What actually is The Law of Attraction?

The Law of Attraction is a Universal law. Just like Gravity. Except instead of being pulled to Earth, your thoughts pull circumstances into your life. It is the ability to attract anything you are thinking of into your life. To put it simply, your thoughts become things. Regardless of your beliefs, age, religion and nationality – we are all susceptible to this Universal law, just like gravity.

Those people who claim “Ugh, this always happens to me!” well, they’re right. As long as they hold that belief, then it will always happen to them. The same way there are those people who claim “I’m just a lucky person” are also correct. They believe they will receive good fortune, and so they do.

The Law of Attraction (LOA) has a huge impact on our daily lives whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. It is always working, and we have the ability to harness this unlimited potential if we choose to.

 

Facts not Fiction

Thanks to Quantum Physics we know this all to be true, whether you refer to it as LOA or not. Everything in this Universe is energy and all energy is vibrating, even your thoughts. Vibrations attract the same vibrations. Like attracts like. Therefore, if you are vibrating on a frequency of love and gratitude, you will receive more outcomes and circumstances in your life that make you feel love and gratitude. If you are vibrating at a frequency of anger and doubt, you guessed it, more reasons to feel angry and doubt. The good news is, you can control your frequency with your thoughts and emotions.

What to know

Thoughts backed by real emotion is the key. If you’re thinking about the new car you want but don’t really feel and connect with the emotion of what it would be like to own it, then it’s not working.

What you focus on most will become. If you have consistently positive thoughts that you really feel, then you will attract those things into your life. If you allow negativity to sneak in, you will see it in your reality. Training yourself to become conscious of your thoughts it key. The Universe is responding to what you are thinking of whether you want it to or not. The Universe doesn’t know whether you want what you are thinking of or not, it simply responds to the fact that you are thinking about it. 

Thinking “I don’t want this..” or “I hate it when..” you will attract the exact thing you don’t want into your life.

Let go of the ‘hows’ and the ‘whens’ and leave that up to the Universe. If you focus on the details of how what you want could come to you and when, you are simply limiting yourself. The Universe can bring your desires to you in ways and circumstances you could never comprehend, so by trying to figure out the details you are getting in your own way and sending out a small-minded belief. Get out of the way and leave it up to the Universe.

 

How to begin? 

✧  V I S U A L I S E  ✧

Visualising your desires is key to getting them into your reality. Not just a vague picture of what you think would be nice, I’m talking with obsessive detail. Let’s go back to the new car as an easy example. What colour is it? Blue? No, it’s a midnight blue, that sparkles when the light shines on it. What noises does it make as you unlock and open the door? How does the material feel under your skin as you hold the steering wheel and get comfortable in the driver’s seat? Does it have a smell? This is the kind of detail you need to go into until you feel as though you are really there, that you already have it.

 

✧  V I S I O N  B O A R D S  ✧

In addition to visualising, creating a vision board is honestly one of the most powerful things you can do. Print out pictures from the internet, cut out words and images from magazines, make a collage of anything and everything that represents the life you want. Place it somewhere in front of your bed so that you will see it first thing as you wake up and last thing at night. Place it somewhere you will walk past every day and have time to absorb it.

I made a vision board (which you can see a photo of below) and it is honestly CRAZY at how much of it came true, even exact details I wasn’t even aware of until I looked at it recently. Seriously spooky! When I made this, I wasn’t in a relationship, I wasn’t travelling, I didn’t feel good about life, but I knew that I wanted my life to look and feel like my vision board did. And I knew I deserved it. The extreme similarity between my vision board photos and my real life photos is phenomenal.

This. Shit. Works.

 

 

✧  S P E A K  &  A C T  ✧

Start to speak out loud your desires as if you already have them in your present reality. Choose your words carefully. “I am so grateful for this new job I love that allows me financial freedom” “I am so grateful for my upcoming trip to the Maldives” “I am so grateful for my thriving healthy body”. Say it to yourself, speak it with your friends, tell people about it. Talk as if it is.

In addition to getting loud and proud about what you’re manifesting, taking inspired action is key. Ask yourself the question “who do I need to become in order for this to be true?” and take action every day, big or small, towards that reality. If you want to attract a partner into your life, clear out some closet space for them. Dedicate time in your calendar that you will be spending with them. Make room for them in your life. Want to manifest your dream house? Start preparing for moving day and get everything in order. Get rid of anything you wouldn’t take with you and start looking for the key ring you’ll use on your new set of house keys. Want the job of your dreams? Start job searching every week, clean up your resume and get familiar with what you’re new annual salary will be.

 

✧  G R A T I T U D E  ✧

Gratitude is one of the quickest ways to raise your vibration. Whenever I feel myself not being particularly positive or upbeat I ask myself the question “what am I taking for granted right now?” and I immediately have a multitude of things to be grateful for. Health, food, clean drinking water, a roof over my head, a loving partner, the sun on my face… Try and be grateful for even the less ‘fun’ things – “I am so grateful I have to pay this bill because that means I am in a position to have bills in the first place”, “I am so grateful for this rainy weather because that means the plants and flowers will grow and flourish”. Shift your perspective. 

To take it a step further, be grateful for the things you have not yet physically manifested. “I am so grateful for my raise at work”, “I am so grateful for my new beach house”. Really tap into the feeling of gratitude you will have when you can see and feel it in your physical world.

Ask the Universe for what you want. Put that request out there, trust, believe and expect miracles. Most importantly, believe in your worthiness. Believe that you can have what you want. That you deserve anything you desire. That there are no barriers and no limitations on you. Ask, believe, act, receive.
